I am using Active Backup for Business and I had a problem where the NAS did not delete any old versions despite the retention policy that I had setup.
Synology customer support was unable to tell me when that task would run. They said that it ran before the backup task, but that was not true. It did not run.
I had Lights Out scheduled to start backups at 1:00 AM.
I finally found the answer on my own (I had to crawl around using SSH to find the answer) and figured I'd post it here in case anybody else was having the same problem.
The ActiveBackup for Business retention policy cleanup task runs daily at 12:00 midnight, so make sure you have your NAS powered on at that time if you set a retention policy for your backups.
