Hi Roland,
ich glaube ich hab's. Dank Deiner Hinweise:
Z.B. hier:
http://www.myopenrouter.com/forum/threa ... n-Problem/
So.
Here is the thing,...there is no solution for your problem unless you hack the firmware source code and download it to your router.
I had this router too, and since I have no time to screw around with it, I just returned it to the store and got Cisco instead...I just hope it will behave more reasonably.
Now, let me explain the problem - DHCP Server.
Known fixes through Web Interface - NONE!
1) If you want to set the time for DHCP Client lease on your LAN - forget it, NETGEAR won't let you.
2) And if it did, you would be limited to 1 day only or less (Cisco and Netgear)
3) On this particular model, when the time is about for the Client Lease to be renewed, fking router drops your connection(I was happily playing my StarCraft II when that **** happened!)...just for a few sec...just enough to screw you up.
On this particula router, the default(and preset) Lease Time is 1 day...by DHCP spec, you should expect a drop every 12 hours(client requests a renewal every half-period of the lease). Surprisingly, this sht never happened to me before,...and I've had quite a few routers in my lifetime.
I've found quite a few discussions about this stuff...and a couple of people raised a reasonable question - WHY THE FK WE DO NEED LEASE ON OUR OWN LAN!?!?!
And some of the dumb responses were - use Client Reservation feature - as if this is a some sort of panacea. Guess what? This particular router DOES allow you to do DHCP Client Reservation - and it ain't helping squat. Drops your connection with the same success rate of nearly 100%.
I am a student and I work full time, I ain't bragging, but rather saying I have no time to deal with this junk. I wasted my weekend figuring out what's wrong with is piece of waste, and on monday evening I just returned it to the store. If the replacement - Cisco E2000 - won't do the trick, the next stop will be DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router. And after that, if all fails, I am buying goddamn switch and wireless AP, and setting up Linux server on microATX platform...it'll eat more power, but I'll have something more robust and reliable,...hopefully
