Hello,

I installed Linux Mint 21.3 on an older pc to try to learn about Linux. The linux pc would not connect when I entered the address to the server to install the Linux client.
I copied the deb file to the LM pc and installed it. It appears to have installed and I can access the dialogue to connect to the server. The server name that appears is the same as what
appears on my other Windows clients. When I click on connect I get an error message "server does not respond. verify that the server is online."
I can can access shared files between the Windows pc's and LM pc so they do connect.
The LM pc also appears in the network devices column of the LO console.

What am I missing?

Can you please open a terminal and verify that the server name is resolved?

Try

ping servername

ping servername.local

Does that work?

Result of the ping:

167 packets transmitted, 167 received, 0% packet loss, time 166268ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 3.647/5.518/11.296/1.288 ms

I am also able to access a share on the server from the LM pc and the server can access the LM pc share.

Is there anyone who has a linux client connected to LO on a Windows 11 pc?
I have not been able to connect to server as stated above.

I sent the requested logs but not sure about the name resolution. If what I sent was not correct let me know how to send what you need.

Hi, I have sent a response via email:

the logs show, that the connect tries to use pc-350 but fails. This is also indicated by the ping test,

Please manually enter

pc-350.local

in the connect dialog and try again.
