I seem to be unable to stop my lightsout server from backing up my pc and then shutting it down since i moved onto the free edition.

well the patch seems to have wiped out the setting so we will see come next sunday when the 4am backup was scheduled for. So the backups are only for paid versions right?

Yes. Backup control requires a license.
