Kann man eigentlich auch WHS1 auf dem AcerH340 auf eine esata-Platte installieren?
z.B. auf eine 200GB 2,5" Platte, die man dann "im Gehäuse versteckt"

Dann hätte man 4 Slots für je 2TB Platten frei..

Ich glaube nicht, dass das klappt... eSata läuft ja über den Marvell-Chip der einen gesonderten Treiber benötigt.
Ich habe auch nie geschaut, ob eine eSata Platte überhaupt im BIos erkannt wird.

Aber warum legst du nicht eine kleine Platte zum booten auf Slot 0 und die 4. 2TB dann an eSata?

Ich denke, daß ich das Kabel von Sata0 auf dem MB abziehe und mit Verlängerung und Adapter auf den Esata-Anschluss lege.
Und dann die kleine 2,5" Platte mit einem Sata-Kabel auf den Sata0 verbinde.

Dann könnte ich die 4 3,5" Slots mit je 2TB bestücken (Sata1-3 und Esata)

So, nachdem endlich mein eSATA-Kabel für die 2,5er HD aus China gekommen ist, konnte ich den o.g. Plan umsetzen.

1. (kleine) 2,5er HD am offenen Acer h341 in den oberen Slot (3) gesteckt
2. WHS regulär installiert
3. diese HD über ein eSATA-Kabel extern an den eSATA Anschluss des h341 angeschlossen -> WHS bootet problemlos von eSATA !
4. zusätzliche 3,5er HDs in Slot 0-3 eingesteckt und in Betrieb genommen.

(5. Partition D: auf der 2,5er Platte mit dem "migrate.cmd"-Script geleert, damit die Zugriffe auf diese Platte verringert werden. EDIT: nicht erforderlich - ist eine Test)

Alles funktioniert bisher problemlos.
Das Ganze ist ein Backup-System und ich werde es mal quälen, um zu sehen wie die Performance ist.

Auch wenn es wohl schon Probleme mit SSDs gab, werde ich mal in naher Zukunft, die 2,5er HD gegen ein SSD tauschen und mir ne eigene Meinung machen..

Ich weiß ja nicht was migrate.cmd macht, aber denk daran, das ein Großteil der Einträge auf D die Tombstones sind und die MÜSSEN auf D liegen und werden bei jedem Zugriff auf eine Datei im Pool mindestens 1x angesprochen (ich habe nie getestet ob es bei einem Zugriff beim Ooen bleibt oder ob bei jedem Dateizugriff der Tombstone auch zugegriffen wird oder irgend etwas dazwischen)

One of the big changes made in Power Pack 1 is how data is migrated between the drives. Unfortunately, a lot of us have been using Windows Home Server since it was release, and because of that, our primary data drive (the "D:\" drive) is full or almost there. And we need a way to clear it. However, there isn't an easy way to do this. In fact, there is no built-in way to force migration off the D:\ drive.

Well, Guilherme Jardim from the forums has found a way that will in fact do this for you. It's a script, and it takes the brute force method of forcing the migrator to start working, but it absolutely works.

What you will need

Remote Desktop Connection or Advanced Admin Console
Notepad

What to Do

Once you've remoted into you server, you will need to open up Notepad and copy the following text to a file called "migrate.cmd"

if not exist d:\fake md d:\fake
:loop
fsutil file createnew d:\fake\fake%random%.txt 5368709120
cls
echo "Program is running. Return in few hours to see the progress made."
echo "Ctrl-C to end the script."
ping localhost -n 30 > nul
GOTO loop

This script will create a directory on the D:\ drive and create a blank 5GB file every 30 seconds. This will fill up the drive, and cause the migrator to start moving data off the Primary Data drive and onto the other data drives. Let this run for a few hours or longer and stop the script. Make sure you delete the files in or just the entire "D:\fake" directory.
Done

You should have a nice empty D:\ drive this way and it should stay this way till you fill all your other drives!

Ob das wirklich was nützt, kann ich noch nicht sagen. Die Tombstones werden natürlich nicht überschrieben oder gelöscht.

Da wird genau das gemacht, wofür ich auch eine bat habe … nur etwas anders, bei mir werden auch fake Dateien größer 5 GB erzeugt wenn dafür der Platz reicht

Soweit ich mich erinnere ist allerdings in PowerPack 2 wieder etwas geändert worden und auch Drive D wird im Laufe der Zeit wieder etwas gefüllt auch wenn alle anderen Drives noch nicht voll sind
