Can't login to server during MacOS Client setup
When installing the Lights out 3.0 MacOS client on a MacBook Air all proceeds normally until the admin login screen come up. I enter the Server admin username and password and it bounces back to a blank long in box without proceeding. I need to close the box to get out of the loop and it returns a "not authorized" error message. The client setup process finds the server without issue and I can ping the local server name.
I have installed version 6.0 of mono and loaded the SSL cert and made it valid for all users. I am running the latest update of Mojave on the Mac and 2016 Essentials on the server. LightsOut on the server is running normally and all the Windows 10 clients installed without issue.
Suggestions?
Thanks..

Re: Can't login to server during MacOS Client setup
It seems that Mono 6.x has a serious flaw and does not work. Please downgrade to Mono 5.20. Use this link to download 5.20.1.34:
https://download.mono-project.com/archi ... versal.pkg
Install over the existing version 6.x and then reboot the Mac. After that it should work.

Martin

Re: Can't login to server during MacOS Client setup
Hello Martin, Apparently the MACOS upgrade to Mac OS Catalina broke the light out 3 client installation. Now I can no longer attach to the server. I get an endless login loop as before.
I tried to reinstall Mono 5.2 and now Catalina will not allow the install of MONO saying it cannot validate the package.
At this point I am out of ideas.
What next?

Martin, Correction to my previous post. I was able to reinstall Mono 5.2 but it did not resolve the issue.
Thanks..
Thanks..

Re: Can't login to server during MacOS Client setup
I've not yet much experience with Catalina but noticed that the server certificates from WHS 2011 are no longer recognized as being valid. I need to test that for 2012/2016 Essentials.
You can do a quick test yourself. Verify that the server certificate is in your key chain and marked as being valid. Then use Safari to connect to https://your-server-name-here:7783. If that works, it must have another issue. If that gives a certificate error, Lights-Out can't connect.

Re: Can't login to server during MacOS Client setup
Tried your test and I had no problem connecting to https://myservername:7783 via Safari... but still cant get the MAC client connected to my server.
The client finds the server but cannot get past the admin login box when attempting to connect. Exhibiting same behavior as when I was running MONO 6 under Mojave.
All other windows 10 clients are still OK.

Ok, then please zip the logs files under /var/log/lights-out-client and attach the archive.

I can reproduce the issue but have no workaround yet. Still trying to understand the issue...

Re: Can't login to server during MacOS Client setup
It seems to be a change in Apples requirements for certificates: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210176
The most important one is the new lifetime of 825 days (just over 2 years). Lights-Out is currently creating certificates with a lifetime of 5 years.
I will address the issue next week and provide a test build.

Martin

Re: Can't login to server during MacOS Client setup
I'm working on the issue. The new Apple requirements make it necessary to change the whole certificate handling. Currently neither WHS/WSE nor Synology create certificates with a lifetime of 2 years. I have to implement a workaround which avoids to create a new root CA (because that requires that you have to reconnect all client computers).
