can not wake client by WiFi

Beitrag von jheicron »

I have been using L O on a Windows wired network for several years, currently on V-2.5.5 Home, without a problem. Recently I had to move one of my PC's and had to use a USB wireless adapter for network connectivity. After doing so I could not use the “wake on lan” function from the L O server. I can shut down and sleep from the L O server but cannot wake the client.
Is WOL via WiFi not supported by L O or am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks,

Heicron

That's not a Lights-Out issue. Most WiFi adapters shut down the link in standby/shutdown. So the WOL signal does not reach the machine.

I thought that was the case because it is USB. I'll look into the PCIe adapters.

Does WOL not function at all over WiFi?

AFAIK there is no "wake over ether" or "wake on WiFi" at all.

Intel once had that option in their adapters, not sure if that is still available because it requires that the link is kept established all the time.
