LO 2 Windows can't be uninstalled

Beitrag von Wolfgang28 » 30. Jul 2021, 01:25

Martin,

I've been having a problem for a while that started with LO3 having problems connecting to my two clients nearly every day Lights-Out 3 was supposed to be running backups from the two clients. There would be several attempts to connect and when looking at the email message I would almost always notice "Network disconnected" or "Access to file denied". This would happen to both clients on any day the backup was scheduled. Another complication developed where StableBit Drive Pool kept saying a drive was tending toward failing. I finally replaced the drive hoping it would fix the backup failure but it continued. Later a second drive in the pool, gave the same StableBit Drive Pool warning, so I replaced that drive as well. I also got the drives to balance out fairly and hoped it would go back to running backups successfully. Nothing got better so I decided to completely remove LO3 from the server and clients and reconnect them again. However, I noticed that some part of LO2 was still remaining and refused to be uninstalled from the server. The Windows error message was "Windows cannot find C:\ProgramData\{9C2C4AF1-08F5-4B63-8A8D-BEFF1B671596}\LightsOUT2.Installer.exe" Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. So of course, the backups still refuse to complete correctly. All three pcs are definitely on the same switch and the same router. No other devices show any communication problem with other devices. I have not tried to reinstall LO3 because I think the problem lies with LO2. Also, I noticed that if I tried to manually start an LO3 backup, it would never happen; even if I left the server to run all night without sleeping. Looking forward to your help.

Thank you.

Additional problems noticed: LO3 when installed on the server will not open when I click either on the Start menu or the taskbar. How am I supposed to set my conditions for backups when I can't get into LO3?, Acronis True Image 2021 keeps saying one particular backup from 6/4/21 is corrupted, should I proceed to delete it?

What file is corrupted and why/how would it be corrupted?

Hi Wolfgang,

I recommend that you first try to remove Lights-Out 2 and 3 completely from your server, see here for details https://help.green-it-software.com/help ... ation.html
This procedure also applies to version 2, simply replace 3 with 2.

Then reinstall version 3. After that we can look at the other issues.

I fixed the corrupt file problem by uninstalling/reinstalling Acronis TI 2021. It seemed to have been stuck on removing previous backups for the pc which I tried to delete. I followed your steps for removing LO2 and LO3 but there was still a problem. I think I missed a step in the instructions. I'll retrace and update you hopefully soon.

I was able to uninstall LO3 following your instructions. LO2 was also uninstalled but required some extra steps due to a file still being open when I tried to uninstall it. I installed LO3 but it refused to open the console window. No error messages or any other response. Just the cursor with a blinking hourglass. I waited several hours and nothing happened. I rebooted, uninstalled LO3, downloaded a fresh version and installed it. Same results. What's wrong now?

Wolfgang,

I recommend that you remove version 3 and then clean the installation folders also after un-installation.
This is the folder c:\program files\AxoNet Software Gmbh\LightsOut2 and LightsOut3.
Next remove old settings and delete the folders c:\programdata\LightsOut2 and LightsOut3.
Then reboot the computer.

Then do clean installation of Lights-Out 3. If you run into a blocker, then please post a screen shot.
