Lights management service for Windows Home Server 2011
------------------------------------------------------
Version: 1.0.6

Installation
------------
This application is not an add-in and it uses a standard setup for installation.
Login to the server with administrative privileges and execute "HpMssServiceSetup.msi".
Please uninstall any previous version otherwise the installer will fail.

Supported hardware
------------------
HP: EX48x, EX49x, X510, X310, X311, X312
Acer: H340, H341, H342
Lenovo: D400

IMPORTANT
---------
This application relies on the Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) driver to detect disk locations. If this driver is not installed the application cannot determine the slot in which the drives are installed and the disk lights will not work. Only the health light will stop blinking. The Intel RST driver can be installed after you complete this setup and the disk lights will work after a reboot.

To check if the driver is installed open "Device Manager" and under "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" you will have "Intel(R) ICH9R/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller" if the driver is installed. Otherwise you probably have "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller" and it needs to be updated. You can find the latest driver on the Intel download center http://downloadcenter.intel.com, search for "Intel RST".

Description
-----------
This service manages the status lights on WHS servers. It supports the following functions:
- When the service runs it stops the blinking of the health light. For now there is no health management, this will come in a future version.
- The service monitors disk status and changes the lights according to the original HP MSS server software, but these values can be changed in the configuration file.
o	No disk or disk offline: off
o	Disk online but not assigned in WHS: blinking aqua
o	Disk online with shared folders or assigned as backup disk: aqua
- The brightness level can be changed through the configuration file.

The configuration file is located here:
"C:\Program Files\HP MediaSmart Server\HpMssService.exe.config".

If you have some issues you will find a log file in the following directory: "C:\Program Files\HP MediaSmart Server\Log". Please post me the log if you find problems and let me know what happened, when it happened and the steps to reproduce.

Issues can be reported in the following forum: http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php/forum/317-lights-management-for-windows-home-server-2011/.
