Server Won't Go to Sleep
Hello,
After installing some recent windows updates my server will no longer go to sleep. I checked and have both S1 and S3 available but no option to go enter in to sleep from the start menu. I only have: disconnect, lock restart and shutdown. In the control panel under Power Options --> Edit Balanced Setting I have put both the display and the server to sleep after 5 minutes.
Any ideas where else I can look?
Thanks!

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
There are 3 options in the action drop-down. It's set to Save Energy with a delay time of 5 minutes. The other options are Do Nothing, Shut Down and User Action.
In the first On execution box I have "HealthAlertsSvc,Spooler".

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
Ok, that looks good. What activity does the status page show under monitoring?

And what activity is displayed on the runtime diagram?

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
This is very strange... it's fixed itself. Went to sleep fine last night and woke up this afternoon when I logged in. I'll keep monitoring it for the next few days and post back here if anything changes.
Thanks!

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
So it looks like the issue is back. The server has been running 24/7 since the morning of March 20th. So going back to your previous questions:
1. What activity does the status page show under monitoring?
5 Monitored Source(s)
2 with Activity
Backup Activity (in gray)
Essentials Disk Storage I/O (in gray)
Calendar (in gray)
Computers (in bold blue)
System Updates / Windows Updates (in bold blue)
2. And what activity is displayed on the run-time diagram?
In the run-time diagram the server bar is solid since the morning of the 20th. I don't see anything about an activity type/name though.

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
Ok, you see two activities:
Computers (in bold blue)
System Updates / Windows Updates (in bold blue)
Those keep the server awake. Computers is in your hands, if System Updates do not stop to signal activity, either try a reboot or disable monitoring in settings -> monitoring.

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
Thanks for the quick reply!
I checked under settings --> monitoring and "System Updates / Windows Updates" was already un-selected. Calendar was selected though so I un-selected that.

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
You can disable calendar if you do not use it. But that's not the issue you are facing.
Try a reboot.

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
Well looks like I'm back to square 1. The server has been running non-stop since March 27th.
It's strange that "System Updates / Windows Updates" still shows in bold in the Status dashboard even though it's not selected under Settings --> Monitoring.

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
Can you please open task manager and check if there are any processes consuming CPU?

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
I'll do that later on tonight but I did a little bit more poking around after I posted the message last night and noticed that for some odd reason "Calendar" was enabled again. I disabled it and so far it's been going to sleep as it should so maybe that's what the culprit is?
Any idea what could be causing it to get re-enabled?

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
No idea. But I'm still unsure that calendar is the source of your problem. Do you have any schedules in your calendar?
You can send me your logs, so I can have a look what's going on.
Simply zip the whole folder c:\programdata\LightsOut2\Logs (via right click, send to compressed folder) and send the archive to support@green-it-software.com.
If you do not see a folder c:\programdata, then open explorer options and enable "show hidden files and folders".

Re: Server Won't Go to Sleep
I'll definitely do that. Sending the over now.
There is/was one schedule in the calendar but I delete that one last night. Its for every Friday from 6am to 6:06am and after deleting it yesterday it's back again this afternoon.
